Amazing Riding Experience in Devarayanadurga Hills



Devarayanadurga is located very close to Tumkur district in Karnataka. True to its name “Devarayanadurga, when translated aptly means “Fort of the God”. Though it had various other names, it got the name Devarayanadurga after the Mysore ruler Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar captured it on one of his victorious feats.
There are two temples, one at the foothill called Bhoga Narasimha Temple and another one is on the hilltop called Yoga Narasimha Temple.

1. The Bhoga Narasimha Temple is located at the base of the hillock of the Devarayanadurga and the deity as we all know is dedicated to Lord Narasimha. This temple enjoyed the patronage of many kings from various dynasties and also is well known for its simple but beautiful architectural marvel. There are numerous pillars dotting the temple, on which inscriptions have been carved regarding the history of the temple and the various rulers.


2. Yoga Narasimha Temple is on the hillock. Around 100 steps have to be climbed to reach the temple and the scenic beauty will definitely leave the climbers spellbound. Lush greenery can be found around the hillock which gives a relief from the tedious task of climbing the steps.

The place is located above 4000 feet above sea level and can be a weekend pilgrimage spot and getaway for a quick retreat or picnic, to escape from the grind of the daily hustle and bustle of city life. It is also a trekker’s paradise, due to the fact that it has numerous hillocks surrounding it, and many wildlife enthusiasts, in fact, throng the place for various wildlife shoots etc. It is declared as a protective reserved forest by the forest department of Government of Karnataka.

The road up to the hills gives scenic views of nature and ever the wonderful climate and charming beauty. People also visit here for adventurous, pleasantly and lovely riding experience.

DD Hills can be visited throughout the year but winter season is best and during spring you can enjoy beauty of the nature
While trekking many shops are there on the way even though carrying water with yourself a is good idea

How to Reach DD Hills:
Devarayanadurga Hills is located in the Tumkuru District, Karnataka, India.
You can choose to reach here through Dabaspete or Tumkuru
You can also reach Dabaspete or Tumkur via Bus or Train then hire an auto or taxi from here.
Nearest Airport is Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (85 KM) and
Nearest Railway Station is Tumakuru Railway Station (35 KM).

Bengaluru to Devarayanadurga
The distance of DD Hills is around 30 KM from Tumkur and 70 KM from Bangalore.

Route: Take National Highway 48 out of Bengaluru, on the Pune highway till Tumkur. Turn right; Devarayanadurga is 15km away.

Stay: Camp Linger (Linger.in); starting from Rs5,250, double occupancy, for a weekend, including meals and all activities.

Top tip: There are no food stalls on the way, so carry food and water.
